Hello and welcome to Purposeful Family! I am so glad that you are HERE! 🙂 Purposeful Family exists to do a few different things. Let me tell you about them…
- I aim to provide valuable, encouraging information, to help you to raise up not just “good kids”, but faithful followers of our Lord Jesus Christ who will become world-changers in their generation (Acts13:36). My philosophy is pretty simple. If I love the Lord and I attempt to share His love with all the people I can, that’s great. I will hopefully reach a lot of people. If I have children, however, and share the Lord’s love with them, and then we all purpose together to share His love with the world, we exponentially increase our efforts! As I read Scripture, I see that the Lord did not just come and preach the Good News to as many as He could and then head back to heaven. He trained followers (disciples, learners) to join Him in the work of sharing the Good News. That is what I believe the Lord intends for EVERY Christian family. We cannot GO and make disciples (Matt. 28:19) until we first STAY and make disciples at HOME! Then we can go out TOGETHER and make disciples, teaching them to obey everything He commanded us to do.
- I will partner with parents who desire to have help discovering their family’s purposes, would like accountability, encouragement, and practical ideas for IMPLEMENTING their family’s purposes and callings, and need ideas and support in pressing through the day to day challenges that hinder focus on greater callings through coaching. I am also available to partner with parents who would like to explore or begin homeschooling as a tool for fulfilling their family’s purposes.
- With free resources, such as bulletin inserts and newsletter articles/quotes, I hope to partner with churches to encourage even more families to recognize their calling to raise their children to be committed disciples of Jesus Christ, not just “good kids”.
- Through books and other resources, I hope to make more tools available to you and your family for the purposes of growing the faith of your children, fulfilling your family’s God-given purposes, and thereby increasing workers for the harvest (Luke 10:2) and reaching more of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to the glory of God.
Thank you for stopping by Purposeful Family. Please contact me today to set up an introductory 30 min work session (FREE!) to discuss all that coaching has to offer you and your family.
The Full Bio
My name is Katherine Clark and I am the founder of this site. Perhaps you are wondering who I am and what qualifies me to say any of what I do. Maybe you are considering coaching and are interested in my qualifications. Let me introduce myself and give you some background information to help you get to know me better. For starters, in broad strokes I am a pastor’s wife and mother of 4.
| EDUCATION |
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN with a BA in elementary education (Biology/Chemistry teaching concentration) with a Lutheran teaching certificate. After finishing my BA, I moved to Chicago and attended Wheaton College to learn about spiritual formation and discipleship and earned my Master’s degree in Educational Ministries. Though I trained to teach science and music in grades 1-6, after moving to St. Louis while my husband attended seminary, I taught computers and math for grades 5-8 at a private Lutheran school half time while also serving as their youth director for three years. During that time I also earned a Biblical Counseling Certificate in Women’s Ministry from the American Association of Christian Counselors.
| FAMILY and HOMESCHOOLING |
Following my “career”, I chose to stay home with our growing family and put my education to work educating our children. What a blessing that has been! It is my highest goal to raise up a new generation of disciples for Jesus Christ. I feel strongly that we cannot fully answer the call the of the Great Commission to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you,” (Matt. 28) unless we STAY and make disciples at home, right in our families, first. By so doing- we multiply our efforts and raise up workers for the plentiful harvest. One thing we felt called to do to assist in our efforts to raise our children to be disciples is to homeschool them. Three are now in school and one continues to homeschool (10th grade). With my background, it was natural. Homeschooling has provided us the opportunity to bless our children with access to a Biblical worldview, among other things. I do believe that homeschooling is a calling issued to some- but discipling (raising disciples) is a call issued to EVERY Christian parent. We appreciate the ministry of the Christians schools our other 3 kids are attending and how we now partner with others who are committed helping our children apply their faith to all aspects of life. I also now have the privilege of leading our church’s choir and volunteering with youth ministry at church.
| SPIRITUAL LIFE |
I am so privileged to not remember a time in my life when I did not know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus loves me and that He died to forgive my sins. I have had a passion for His Word since I was a child and have the honor of being married to a pastor. In my marriage and my role as a pastor’s wife, I have the opportunity not only to continually be challenged in the Word, but also many chances to minister to others with His Word. I have enjoyed leading several Beth Moore Bible studies, the Truth Project, and most recently, I attended training to lead Precept Upon Precept Inductive Bible studies (Kay Arthur | Precept.org).
