Of all the programs, lessons, and time-fillers available today, Awana is one of the best uses of time! If you are looking for a genuine partner in sharing faith in Christ with your child, I whole-heartedly recommend finding an Awana Club to join. Read on to find out why.
1. Sharing Christ with Every Kid
Awana believes that kids matter to God. They want to empower families to raise kids in faith and partner with them, supporting them in doing so.
“The purpose of Awana clubs is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.”
That is OUR goal in raising our kids, too! Unlike some church programs, Awana isn’t trying to do it for parents, they want to partner with parents, reinforcing what you are teaching at home and providing resources to assist you. Awana has tools to help parents dialogue with their children about faith, in addition to the weekly readings and memorizations done at home together.
2. Lots of FUN!
If your kids are going to go somewhere, do something, they might as well go to a church, that is supportive of your family, wants to share Christ with your kids, and wants to do it using FUN! : ) Having pajama night, crazy hair night, watch a movie in a vehicle I made out of a cardboard box— the kids LOVE it.
3. Memorization of God’s Word
In my opinion, no time is better spent of that learning God’s Word from the Bible. When kids are participating in an Awana club, they are encouraged, trained, and motivated to hide God’s Word in their hearts. Kids learn the verses that define the foundation of the Christian faith. (If your family could use help with memorizing God’s Word, check out this previous post.)
4. Leadership and Reinforcement
By being in a positive environment where character, virtue, wisdom, and Biblical knowledge are encouraged, reinforced, and rewarded, we help show our children what we value. Awana also develops leaders by providing the opportunity for older kids to work with younger kids.
